Here's What Tank Thinks of Justin Timberlake

He's not here for the nonsense.

Many criticized Justin Timberlake for his cultural appropriation when he tweeted in solidarity with Jesse Williams after his speech at Sunday’s (June 26) BET Awards. Things also got heated after JT responded to the critics in self-defense.

Some also came to Timberlake’s aid, describing the criticism of his tweets as overdoing it with the outrage. Tank apparently is one of those people. Taking to Twitter himself, the R&B singer defended his fellow artist, initially singing his praises as a human being. “@jtimberlake is a REAL human being!" he tweeted. "One of the realist I’ve ever met in this business!..”

He then followed up by taking a screenshot of that tweet and posting it on Instagram, where he went more in-depth as to why people should lay off Justin.

“@justintimberlake doesn't need my pass or yours to feel that we are all one in God's eyes!” he captioned in the post. “We are all part of the human race which is suffering as a whole! You suffer when you're hated and you suffer when you hate! What about that can these simple minded people not understand! I get it he's an easy target! But you haven't sent one dollar to Ferguson or one bottle of water to Michigan! Haters, hypocrites, and social media bullies! FOH wit that dumb s**t! How bout registering to vote to make a difference instead of attacking celebrities on social media! #ImDone.”

Jesse Williams won this year’s Humanitarian Award for his efforts in bringing awareness to the Black Lives Matter movement. During his speech, he asked for people all over to open their minds and be vigilant of the struggle of others. He also called for those who oppose progress to get out of the way. You can see the full speech above.

Justin Timberlake initially tweeted that he was “inspired” by what the activist had to say. After someone replied to the singer, saying JT was “appropriating our music and culture” and asking that he “apologize to Janet [Jackson],” things became more heated. “Oh, you sweet soul,” Timberlake replied. “The more you realize that we are the same, the more we can have a conversation. Bye.” Timberlake would later apologize for how he handled the response.
