Dancehall icon Beenie Man was set to perform in Toronto this weekend for the second night of Drake's OVO Fest 2016, but had to cancel at the last minute thanks to some scary news.
Turns out, he has Zika virus — and that's not all.
Beenie Man took to his Instagram page to apologize to fans for missing the show and explained his current medical concerns. He added that he also contracted Dengue fever — from the same mosquito, no less — and is undergoing blood tests, injections, and pills while he fights the two diseases.
Jah know...dah week ya deal wid me a way!! ⚠ No visa fi mi Canada show (I apologize again to my fans in case you haven't seen the press release) ⚠ Zika Virus hol' mi ⚠ The same Zika mosquito gi mi dengue. 😠 Blood test, injections, pills. Both Zika and dengue are treatable and rarely fatal, so we're confident Beenie will make a full recovery and find a way to make it up to all the disappointed fans.
