Over the weekend, a Kanye West Twitter rant inspired many conversations regarding the recent beef between Apple Music and TIDAL. West had taken it upon himself to try to be the mediator in the situation, offering that Apple should “give Jay his check” and acquire his streaming service so that everyone can simply move on.
Kid Cudi, for one, wasn’t impressed with Ye’s attempt to call for a meeting to sort out the matter, alluding that someone like Kanye West inserting himself into the situation doesn’t help and is, in fact, part of the problem. Cudi didn’t come off like he believes West is sincere when he says “give the kids the music,” offering that none of these streaming rivalries are actually about the music, period.
“This is why the game is f**ked up,” Cudi posted on Twitter. “All this s**t is whack. Bunch of rich guys on a power trip. This s**t ain’t about music. Never has. The rich just wanna get richer. Spare me…”
He also added that he feels “the art is lost.”
West did mention that he is well aware its a “d**k swinging contest,” acknowledging the industry for what it is, and Cudi definitely agreed with him there.
