Most in the world of hip-hop and R&B have shown their discontent for Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy. And perhaps the forefront of this movement is John Legend.

The Dayton, Ohio, native and Grammy-nominated musician has spoken out against Trump in the past but not as in-depth as many may have liked. Well, now, in a full interview with The Daily Beast, Legend’s giving his full opinion of the GOP nod for the White House and says he simply isn’t qualified.

“Trump’s been a public personality forever and that’s fine if you want him to be a reality TV host, but if you want him to be president there’s a different standard,” he explained. “And remember, his entry into being a Republican was questioning the citizenship of the first Black president.”

Facts. John Legend was then asked about Trump’s failed appeal to minority voters, which he describes as a losing strategy.

“We know who he is, he’s made it clear who he is, and now it’s time to show up and vote,” Legend said. “He never was a winning candidate. What he’s selling is only palatable for a minority of the country. It might be the majority of the Republican Party, but it’s not the majority of the country.

“There’s nothing that can shock me anymore,” he continued. “But at this point, Trump’s made it very clear how his temperament is, how his personality is, what his level of intellectual depth is when it comes to policy, and he’s made it abundantly clear that he’s utterly unqualified to be president — no matter what your political views are.”

While John Legend is correct, you’ve got to think the knock against Trump being a "showman" might also apply to Kanye West when his bid comes up in 2020. Just sayin'.
