Premiere: Polly A Takes a Snapshot of Love With ‘Fire Fallin’
Singer-songwriter hybrid Polly A is gearing up to release her new EP, Ghetto Gold Dream. Fusing sounds from genres such as R&B, reggae and hip-hop, the upcoming project features four new tracks. The latest to make its debut is “Fire Fallin,” a ballad that paints a picture of a safe, dependable love.
Serving as a snapshot of a moment in her life, Polly refers to her new track as a documentation of a “cherished memory.”
"This song was written during a beautiful time in my life. It's like a sonic photograph documenting an unforgettable feeling of sharing love that is now only a cherished memory,” she explains. “It's nice that music can do that...can serve as a time capsule. It was produced by an amazing talent, Gabe Lambirth.”
In July, Polly A released the title track for her upcoming EP, along with its visuals. In an interview with ELLE, the Milwaukee native – who has penned songs alongside Alicia Keys and J. Cole – described the inpiration for the project's title. "A ghetto gold dream is perseverance. It's being triumphant and having a situation that may not be the most ideal but making the most out of it."
Ghetto Gold Dream is set to be released on Aug. 26. Polly A is also slated to head on tour with soulstress Selah Sue on Sept. 12. Spin “Fire Fallin” below:
