Monica recently spilled a little tea during a new interview, speaking openly about her relationship with Brandy.

During an episode of The Real, the singer shared that it has “never been an easy situation” between the two of them, confirming the speculation that her and Brandy have had beef for years, despite winning a Grammy together for their duet “The Boy Is Mine” in 1999.

During the interview, Monica admits that she feels her less-than-perfect relationship with the fellow R&B singer was a “test from God,” and that she’s since risen above it.

Brandy got wind of the fact that Monica was talking on the subject and took to social media to make it known she’s not here for any of it.

Posting on Instagram, Brandy wrote, “#Inspire is the only reason #IAm,” but the real shade was thrown in her other hashtags.

“Hey Hey Hey, #IKnowTHEREALStoryThatEverybodyDoesntKnow,” the singer’s post continued. “#NewKeyOnKeyNewMeOnMe #MissSubstance #PositivityIsTheOneThingYouShouldNotFake.”

While her hashtags are a clear reaction to Monica’s interview on The Real, Brandy also took to Twitter (before deleting her thought) saying, “Real Recognizes Real - Real Recognizes Fake - Real Recognizes Fake Real - Real Recognizes Real Fake,” hinting that Monica’s comments were not authentic, nor sincere.

Looks like we’ll have to sit back and wait to see how far the two take their reignited beef this time around.
