Lupe Fiasco Admits Defeat, Says Kendrick Lamar Makes Better Music Than Him

So, now what?

Published September 16th

Lupe Fiasco has been all up in his feelings this week.

After the rapper took to Twitter to share his thoughts, as inspired by Kid Cudi’s now-infamous rant calling out Drake and Kanye West for not caring about him, his fans got him to own up to a little something regarding Kendrick Lamar.

Lupe Fiasco replied to a fan on Twitter who came at him to say that Lamar’s music is better…by way of agreeing with him. Plot twist, much?

Fiasco shared that he agrees Kendrick Lamar makes better music, but that, when putting one against the other in regards to “straight up rapping,” it’s hard to judge. The rapper also added, “He in, I’m out,” admitting defeat.

From there, another fan spoke up saying, “In 06 I believed you were supposed to be what Kendrick now is for the culture. You were supposed to be the voice, what happen.”

Ouch.

Talk about harsh love. Perhaps Lupe Fiasco will use this series of criticisms to make some of his best music yet. Or maybe he’s not interested in competing with Lamar. Either way, one has to commend his honesty.

Take a look at the now-deleted tweet below.
