Nicki doesn’t do many interviews, but has been granting a few outlets some of her gems recently. In speaking with Ebro in the Morning on Hot 97, the Queens rapper was asked what she thought about her boo and all the beefs he’s managed to get involved in. Her response may surprise some.
“I do not believe there’s any such thing as negative publicity,” she told Ebro, Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez. “And that’s what I tell him. There’s a lot of things that I know about other rappers that I keep quiet. As a man and as a rapper and as an artist, he runs his s**t the way I run my s**t. He’s the boss of his stuff. I don’t really want to step in too much, because it’s not my place. Behind the scenes, I’m such a rapper that I’m always critiquing everything but he gotta live his own life at a certain point in terms of his career choices.”
Minaj then expanded social media’s role in beefs and how artists can both ignore it and use it to their advantage when it comes to rapper relations.
“I strongly believe great music changes everything. If n****s got your name in they mouth for a year or two, thank them, because if you come out with great music after all of that then it’s nothing, none of that matters,” she continued. “Social media has given so much power to irrelevant s**t because the masses now have a voice and if you’re not careful you will allow them to shape what you do.”
Meek Mill’s been gearing up to release some new music. Recently he shared nine snippets from Dreamchasers 4, including one, which was a collab with Shy Glizzy, called “Tony’s Story 3.” He also recently made headlines for deleting his Instagram account. The jury’s still out as to why he decided to be ghost on social media but many are speculating it has to do with DC4.
