Mommy Blues: Ciara Had a Very Emotional Moment at a Children's Hospital

“It’s pretty tough for me, being a mom.”

R&B’s lovebird songstress Ciara is holding down her pregnancy with baby No. 2 while raising 2-year-old baby Future, so she’s pretty established in the world of mommyhood.

Paying frequent charitable visits to Seattle’s children’s hospital alongside her footballer hubby Russell Wilson makes for some good brushing up on parenting skills as well. But during her most recent visit to the institution, a very special patient gave her an unexpected turn of emotions.

Two-year-old Wesley, who she described as being in the “blind cycle,” is one of the hospital’s youngest patients and does not have much longer to live. In the tearful video, Ciara calls young Wesley an “angel baby,” admitting that she didn’t realize she’d be so emotionally affected upon meeting him.

In the video, it’s pretty obvious that the 31-year-old was trying her hardest to hold it together, but the experience of such a sensitive encounter was a lot to bear.

“Wesley is two years old and he is at the end of his life, in the blind cycle, so pretty sad,” she expressed while wiping away tears. “Pretty tough for me, being a mom, because I didn't even know what to expect when I walked in there and angel baby."

She goes on to explain that the doctors watching over Wesley told her it was his first time opening his eyes in a while and that she lifted the 2-year-old in prayer before doing a hand-painting with him.

“Go Wesley,” she said. “Let's all say prayers for Wesley because miracles are real and they do actually happen. And prayers do change and do make a difference and everybody lets pray together for Wesley."

Watch her tearful reaction to meeting the special toddler and a photo of the couple’s hand-painting fun.
