Every Time Erykah Badu Gave Us Life During the Soul Train Awards

She absolutely nailed her hosting duties.

Erykah Badu may be the only soul-crooning goddess that can have you grooving in your African-print silk wrap with a fist in the hair while doubled over in tear-jerking laughter all at the same time.

So leave it to Fat Belly Bella to hit the 2016 Soul Trains Awards with all things soulful, stirring and silly. After the “Bag Lady” soulstress’ grand entrance, complete with neon-lit, silhouetted Badubots, she flawlessly reminded us a celebration of soul just wouldn’t be the same without her bubbly charisma, jocular punchlines and side-splitting skits.

While accompanying the presentation of several awards from the show, you know the grace of Baduism couldn't leave us without a few memories from another successful Soul Train Awards.

Be enlightened (and brought to cackling laughter) with some of the best Baduist highlights below.

  1. In the most Nosta-Badu-Damas way possible, the Bag Lady informed us that Snickers candy will soon be known as "Dis' Snicker."

  2. She's now adding Soul DJ to her Hollywood resume after a five-member soul set.

  3. We now have a guitar-soloist rendition of Nate Dogg's "Ain't No Fun (If The Homies Can't Have None)" and Juvenille's "Back That Azz Up”

  4. Did we mention that she also tried to scam her way into the awards show? Meet Erma Brandy.

  5. Because of Miss Badu, “Wifi” now has a whole new meaning that goes beyond cellphone passcodes.
