Drake Unveils Another Love Story With Aaliyah

Drizzy wants you to put your money where your mouth is.

Drake is keeping the buzz going for his new More Life album, which he has coined a “playlist” instead, and he’s retreating back to his love affair with the late and painfully missed R&B legend Aaliyah.

Titling the track “Talk Is Cheap,” Drake unloaded the single on Tuesday (Dec. 6) with all of its smooth-soul, fervid R&B nostalgia intact. Collecting from a catalog of unreleased Aaliyah tracks, which her family grips tightly to, Drizzy softly rains her vocals over the song’s hook. Static Major, another late hip-hop and R&B great, is also posthumously included on the song’s first verse and the hook beside Aaliyah.

This track might be especially precious to Drake, considering that he previewed it via Instagram three years ago as he was in the works for a collaborative posthumous Aaliyah album. The project fell through, however, once the “Rock the Boat” singer’s family clamped a lock on her musical vault and expressed their discontent with the album along with Timbaland and Missy Elliott.

Even still, with a commemorative tattoo of the singer and his devout infatuation with her, this probably won’t be the last we hear of his musical endeavors with Baby Girl.

Listen to “Talk Is Cheap” below and peep the original preview of the song from 2013 below.
