Robin Thicke Reportedly Accused of Child Abuse Amid Custody Battle

Sources say the claims were discovered in legal documents.

In legal documents obtained by People, Robin Thicke and former wife Paula Patton seem to be struggling to reach an agreement in the custody battle for their six-year-old son, Julian.

The reason being, People reports, is Patton’s claims against Thicke of physical child abuse, which she reportedly said has instilled fear in their son.

According to the documents reportedly obtained by People, the current custody agreement gives Thicke overnights with Julian on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. In light of the child abuse claims, however, Patton’s recent request to limit the joint custody shared between her and Thicke was denied by an L.A. judge on Thursday (Jan. 12). A source reportedly revealed that the sources were “untrue and unfounded,” as legal records obtained by People show that Patton is concerned with Thicke’s alleged “drinking and drug use.”

Julian’s school principal also told Thicke that a report to LA’s Department of Children and Family Services was made, People reports. This comes after Patton allegedly shared with Thicke that Julian told school faculty and staff that he had been spanked and was “scared” of him.

Thicke holds, the site reports, that Patton’s “residual anger” toward him comes from tensions between her and his family. She was reportedly disallowed from attending the funeral of Thicke’s father, Alan Thicke, due to her adverse relationship with the venerated television actor.

“Paula did not have a positive relationship with my father and often made negative comments to me about my father,” the legal document reportedly reads. “As such, she was not welcome at his funeral. It is my belief that Paula only wanted to attend because it would have resulted in additional public exposure for her.”

Thicke also added that during the course of their marriage, he only used “light spanking” sparingly and that was age-appropriate as a last resort for Julian, the report allegedly says. The Paula crooner has now reportedly said that he has not seen the six-year-old since New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31) and since Jan. 3, Patton had not allowed him and their son to Facetime each other in private.

Following the school’s alleged claims, the documents also claim the school reached out to her regarding the reported abuse and she shared the concern as well. Patton had also noticed a change in Julian’s behavior that “has become very concerning,” saying that he had become tense, trailed off into “a trance” and developed a “slight stutter.”

Recently, on Jan. 9, Thicke said that he was able to speak with his son for the first time in a while after his phone and Facetime calls were previoiusly ignored.
