Cam'Ron Shares How Biggie Helped Him Get His First Record Deal

He reflects on meeting the iconic emcee for the first time.

Today (Mar. 9) hip-hop fans across the world recognize the undeniable legacy the Notorious B.I.G. left behind following his untimely death.

On the 20th anniversary of his passing, many are taking to social media to reflect on Biggie's life, music catalog and influence. Of those stories being retold againCam'Ron has come forward to share the first time he crossed paths with the iconic emcee and it was nothing short of epic.

During an interview with XXL, Killa Cam recalled how the first time he met Biggie in person, the circumstances were anything but ordinary.

"I remember Ma$e brought me to [Biggie’s] house to rap for him and he told his partner Un Rivera about me," Cam reflected. "After Biggie died, Un signed me, but I just remember going to Biggie’s house rapping for him, no deal, trying to get on. He had broke his leg or something at the time, so he was in his bed with his leg broke with two girls in the bed and I just remember rapping for him for like 25 minutes straight and he was like, ‘You can stop now. You dope! I want to f**k with you.'"

Yup, you read that correctly. What a time.

Biggie directly influenced Cam'Ron's career, helping him to sign his first record deal with Untertainment and Epic Records. Following Biggie's death, Cam went on to release his debut album, Confessions of Fire, in 1998. And from there, the rest is history.
