Lord... The First Trailer for the Michael Jackson Biopic Is Here, and Everyone Hates It
An entire decade without music’s worldwide-dominating King of Pop Michael Jackson will be arriving in two years, yet the sting of his untimely death still lingers among his global fan base.
Lifetime television, however, has apparently taken notice of the everlasting mourning and has used it as inspiration to snap the clapperboard on its latest muse: a Michael biopic titled Searching for Neverland. The network, famous for tasking itself with biographical films of some of the greatest legends, will include the last years of MJ’s life before his 2009 death. From the trailer’s quick glimpses, viewers will be introduced to his controversial Neverland Ranch, his personal life outside of the public eye, and early fatherhood. The darker moments include the investigation into Dr. Conrad Murray, MJ’s personal physician who was also sentenced to jail for the death of the Jackson family legend by way of involuntary manslaughter.
But let the fans tell it, and Michael, his legacy and any more attempts at depicting his life for the silver screen is better off left alone.
In the trailer, fans can expect Navi, the world-famous MJ impersonator, to fill the music icon’s dancing shoes for the biopic. The 45-second trailer depicts him in some of Michael’s most pivotal life moments.
Some fans have taken on a wishful-thinking approach to the film, hopeful for a biopic victory.
Then, there are those stuck between a rock and a hard place.
But ultimately, MJ fans are handing a collective pre-premiere thumbs down on not only the film, but the idea of Lifetime handling his legacy for a biopic altogether.
