The sea of celebrity big names and VIPs washed over the 2017 BET Awards on Sunday (June 25), including one of rap’s most celebrated and illustrious femcee icons, MC Lyte.

But even among the spirit of Black excellence at the annual ceremony, Lyte couldn’t help but notice that someone held very close to her heart was missing: Kanye West.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the “Poor Georgie” femcee penned a series of questions addressed to Ye beneath a rare, smiling photo of him.

“My dear brother you are on my mind,” she wrote. “Where are you? How are you? Will we hear you again? How you feel...will we ever hear how you feel? We miss you. Can't wait to hear that next thing.”

For quite a while, the G.O.O.D. Music founder has been maintaining himself beneath the radar while reportedly on top of a secret mountain hideout recording that “next thing” Lyte speaks of. Praising his of hip-hop acumen, she added a reminder of his God-given musical talents. As suspected by most fans, the higher probability is that Yeezy is taking a step back from the Hollywood forefront to tunnel vision in on his next project versus falling completely off of the hip-hop grid.
