Meek Mill Champions the Essence of Victory for His ‘Wins and Losses’ Pop-Up Show

The MMG rap star triumphed over the first of three surprise shows.

Who knew New York City could turn up so heavy for a Philly-bred Meek Mill pop-up?

After all, the past two years has taken the MMG rap star on a sporadic and public flurry of ups and downs. His highly sensationalized split with Queens-bred femcee Nicki Minaj and social media tiffs with another Queens native, 50 Cent, kept Meek’s name married to controversy and heavy criticisms alike. But even among the drama, Meek kept a ring on the rap game with his chart-topping DC4 and fresh sound additions signed to his Dreamchasers label.

Balancing such staggering rises and falls throughout any hip-hop career has the potential to put an end to an artist’s rap run indefinitely. But Meek has figured out a new way to parallel the feats and failures and the dreams and nightmares to his advantage, perhaps, the inspiration behind his third studio project, Wins and Losses.

During the first stint of a trio of Wins and Losses pop-up shows, Meek landed at New York City’s Webster Hall on Friday (July 21). Backed by music-streaming service TIDAL, the concert drew in a massive crowd for the Dreamchasers boss and gave TIDAL users first dibs on catching him live onstage for his Big Apple pit stop. Meek’s fan loyalty is unwavering, as he hit the stage to perform a few Dreamchasers keepsakes like the Nicki-featuring “All Eyes on You” with the crowd spitting every word verbatim. He put the battery in the crowd’s back with one of his most popular tracks, “Dreams and Nightmares (Intro),” which he later gave fans an encore performance of.

Fans weren’t the only ones turned to the max for Meek, however. It was only right that Brooklyn rap star Casanova show face for the celebration and Instagram comedy sensation Shiggy drop in for support as well.

Meek will hit his own stomping grounds of Philly next and wrap things up on his MMG labelmate Wale's home turf in Washington, D.C.

“Y’all got 15 years left of Meek Milly,” the DC4 artist reminded fans right before the show’s close.

In those 15 years, fans hope to continue witnessing more wins, less losses and the continued evolution of Meek Milly while he’s at it.
