Kobe Bryant Issued A Lofty Challenge To Kendrick Lamar
While Kobe Bryant may no longer be going hard in the paint, the former LA Laker is still posing a challenge to basketball players and others alike.
Taking to Instagram, the Black Mamba shared a series of photos on Thursday (Aug. 24) in which he called on everyone from Isaiah Thomas to Kendrick Lamar to push beyond their mental borders. In his message to K.Dot, the former shooting guard urged the rapper along with his TDE labelmates to "revolutionize" and rejuvenate the music program at Centennial High School.
While Kobe didn’t specify which Centennial High he was talking about (there are many), it is most likely the one in Compton. “I challenge your record label to revolutionize the music program at Centennial High School," Kobe captioned a photo that read "detached." Along with the caption, the basketball star added the hashtag "mamba mentality."
Kobe currently serves as the ambassador for After-School All-Stars, a national charity that provides educational after-school programs to more than 70,000 inner-city students. Additionally, the five-time champion founded the Kobe & Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation, which aims to improve the lives of youth and families in need.
While not much is known about Kobe’s connection to Centennial High or how he is gearing up to save its music program, it's clear that the Black Mamba is dedicated to nurturing the youth of today.
