Fat Joe Reveals Why He Didn't Want Remy Ma To Beef With Nicki Minaj

He's got a good point.

When the fiery rap feud between Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma flared up at the beginning of 2017, it seemed every member of the Remy Mafia and Barbz Army were excited to see their respective leading ladies of rap go neck-and-neck in just a few months.

However, Rem’s Terror Squad ally and fellow Bronx emcee Fat Joe apparently wasn’t a part of that crowd.

Sitting down with Power 106 FM, the “Lean Back” artist revisited the months-long rivalry by explaining that he never wanted a rift between the women in the first place.

Nabbing No. 1 spots on the music charts was just one cause for Remy’s celebration instead of controversy, he explained. But Joey also learned his own lesson from a former rap feud that carried on much longer than he felt it needed to.

“Why we getting into this?” he said. “We got No. 1 songs. Why we getting into the beef? That’s not cool. I beefed with 50 Cent for seven years. I was like, it’s not a go.”

Joey Crack recalled the first time he heard Remy Ma’s brutal bars from her Nicki diss track “shETHER” while he was in Las Vegas. It wasn’t until he woke one morning to his cellphone blowing up with calls and messages about the single that he found out about the track.

“I’m looking at my phone and this ‘shETHER’ thing — never heard it,” he recounts. “And then I heard it like you. And I was like, ‘Oh my God! Can’t nobody come back from this one!’ I just didn’t want the rap beef regardless. I knew what she did — she did her thing. But, nobody could come back from that.”

Joey’s sentiments lightly parallel Remy’s post-“shETHER” position on the beef as well. Though she didn’t regret firing up the anti-Nicki record, she does wish things could have taken a better turn for the greater good of femcee rap unity.

We’re hoping the ladies can turn over a new leaf as well.
