Azealia Banks vs. Universal

Azealia Banks hasn't been happy with her label, Universal, for a minute and has voiced her gripes through social media, begging to be released from her contract since it seems like her debut Broke With Expensive Taste was permanently shelved. Now it looks like the Harlem artist is finally getting her wish. She tweeted yesterday, "IM ABOUT TO GET OUT OF MY DEAL!!!!!!!!!! THATS THE BIG SURPRISE!!!!!!"

She followed up, writing, "Free at last. I'm gonna have a fresh start. I'm so excited!!!  Ugh, now I Get to be the cool indie chick I imagined I would be when I was 14!!!"

As Azealia celebrates her freedom, check out more artists that went to war with their labels over the years in fights to be emancipated.
