The Notorious B.I.G., 24

The Notorious B.I.G., born Christopher Wallace, resurrected New York hip hop in the mid '90s with his iconic album Ready to Die, which delivered the chart-topping singles “Juicy” and “One More Chance." Biggie, along with his producer Sean “Puffy” Combs, changed the musical landscape, making hip hop central to popular culture. Two weeks prior to the release of his sophomore LP, Life After Death, Big was gunned down in Los Angeles.  (Photo by Clarence Davis/NY Daily News Archive via Getty Images)
