After discovering her, Prince welcomed Sheila E with open arms into recording sessions for his legendary Purple Rain album and the rest is history. The pair dated while he was still romantically involved with Susannah Melvoin but only briefly. Sheila was one of few women to go on and establish her music career in her own right.
