The Evolution of Jay-Z
It's hard to underestimate the influence fellow Bed-Stuy native the late, great Notorious B.I.G. had on Jay. Acquaintances in high school, the two became closer in the music biz. Big's seminal blend of street and mainstream paved the roads Jay later drove down. They linked for a classic back-and-forth on "Brooklyn's Finest" from Jay's debut album Reasonable Doubt, and on "I Love the Dough" from Biggie's Life After Death. Throughout his career, Jay's quoted and shouted out B.I.G.
