Marley Marl vs. Red Alert

The so-called Bridge Wars of the mid-80s weren’t just about KRS-One and MC Shan. Each MC was aligned with a competing DJ from rival radio stations, which only helped fan the flames. MC Shan was a protégé of WBLS DJ and fellow Queensbridge native Marley Marl, while the Bronx’s KRS rolled with his borough’s Kool DJ Red Alert from KISS FM.
