Class Warfare: When XXL Freshmen Clash

Once a year, XXL magazine crowns 10 up-and-coming rappers they think are going to take it to the next level as "Freshmen." The annual issue always features a photo of all 10 MCs posing together, but that doesn't mean things are all good. 2012 alum Diggy and 2010 grad J. Cole have reignited their war of words with a recent volley of rhymes. It all started when Cole seemingly dissed Diggy in a freestyle when Kendrick Lamar invited him onstage during his Music Matters Tour set in North Carolina. "Picture me hating on a young n---- with talent/Album flopped, but it's cool, he caked out on his allowance," Cole rapped. Diggy fired back with a new track "Fall Down," which features the following jab: "I guess I rattled you, snaggletooth / You know better / Thought J stood for Jermaine, not Jet Setter / You seen me and shook my hand, coppin' pleas in person / Now you wack, less than a man, mention me in verses." Cole and Diggy first started clashing on wax earlier this year, after rumors of an alleged romance between Cole and Diggy's sister, Vanessa Simmons, surfaced. But this isn't the first time XXL Freshmen have fired shots at each other. Click on for more cases of class warfare.
