Life After Death: The Legacy of Notorious B.I.G. 15 Years Later

Is there any date more important, more renowned, more impactful to hip hop? When Can-I-Bus rapped, "the greatest rapper of all time died on March 9th" on 1998's "Second Round Knockout," everyone knew exactly who he meant. And nothing's changed. It was 15 years ago, March 9, 1997, that four bullets ended the life of the Notorious B.I.G., a legend, an icon, a son and a father of two. And we're still mourning his death, celebrating his life, and analyzing his impact as if he left us yesterday. True to his name, B.I.G. left an oversized mark on music, on people and on culture, that shows no signs of fading. Here, we take a piece-by-piece look at Biggie's impact 15 years after his death. —Alex Gale
