Biggie and 'Pac never had a chance to mend their differences, but their mothers, Voletta Wallace and Afeni Shakur, came together onstage at the VMAs in 1999 to "stand united as mothers preserving their legacies." They presented the award for Best Rap Video, and appropriately, Big's homie/torchbearer Jay-Z won.
