Beats and Beef: When Producers and Artists Clash

YG and DJ Mustard go head to head on Instagram over money.

Beats and Beef: When Artists Clash With Their Producers - It was all good a week ago, but things hit the fan between DJ Mustard and YG today as the two apparently went at it on Instagram over unpaid services. A now deleted post on Mustard's account read that he never got paid for beats on his album and YG returned the accusation saying that he never got paid for Mustard's.Hopefully the two leaders of the new West can hash out their grievances and as we wait to see how this drama unfolds, let's take a look at more instances when producers and artists went head-to-head. (Photo: Johnny Nunez/BET/Getty Images for BET)

A$AP Rocky/ SpaceGhostPurp - A$AP Rocky and SpaceGhostPurrp both had an ear for spacey production and early '90s Southern rap, so it's only right that the two have collaborated frequently — highlighted by the SGP-produced Rocky standout cut "Keep It G." But, given the rap world's intense competition, it's also no surprise that the two started beefing in 2012. A$AP Rocky / The Kickdrums - In fact, this isn't even the first time Rocky's gone to war with his boardsmen. Also in 2012, the Harlem rapper took to Twitter to blast Brooklyn beat crew the Kickdrums — who produced "Ridin'," his collabo with indie siren Lana Del Rey — when the song hit the Web prematurely.(Photos: Earl Gibson III/Getty Images For BET; Andy Kropa/Getty Images)

Just Blaze / Saigon - Back in 2007, Saigon posted an online tirade that partly blamed Just Blaze, his collaborator behind the boards, for the pushbacks and budget overruns that plagued his long-delayed The Greatest Story Never Told. Sai later apologized, and the pair have since reconciled. (Photos: Jason Merritt/Getty Images; Brad Barket/Getty Images)

Bangladesh / Lil Wayne - Producer Bangladesh, who crafted Lil Wayne hits "A Milli" and "6 Foot, 7 Foot," criticized the rapper for not compensating him properly. The two have reportedly resolved their issues, with Bang producing "Did It on 'Em" for Young Money signee Nicki Minaj. (Photos: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images; Imeh Akpanudosen/Getty Images)

Nas / Pete Rock - Pete Rock is the only member of the storied production lineup behind Nas's classic debut, Illmatic, who never released any other material with the rapper. The two have had a famously chilly relationship for years; some reports say it started during the recording of their classic "The World Is Yours," when Pete replaced the hook, originally sung by one of Nas's boys, with his own voice. More recently, the two were rumored to be working on material for a sequel to Nas's Lost Tapes.(Photos: Dane Delaney/BET; Terrence Jennings/Picturegroup)

"Paid in Full" - The title track from Eric B. & Rakim's debut LP, "Paid in Full" is quasi-confessional of Ra's love of MCing and his 5 Percenter beliefs over his former life as a stick-up kid. The song also changes hip hop's word for "good-bye" to "peace."   (Photo: Island Def Jam Records)

Guru / DJ Premier - After years of creative differences, the iconic New York duo went on hiatus after their 2003 album, The Ownerz. Prospects for a reunion looked even grimmer when Guru said in a 2009 interview, "I am Gang Starr...Gang Starr is me." To make matters worse, when Guru passed away in 2010, his business partner, Solar, released a letter, purportedly written by Guru, that distanced him even further from his Gang Starr homie. However, many of Guru's family and friends claim that Solar forged the letter. (Photos: Dalle/Hernandez/Landov; Neilson Barnard/Getty Images)

Consequence and Kanye West - Although he had been known in certain hip hop circles for a decade, Consequence really began to get his shine alongside Kanye West in the mid-2000s. Still, in 2011, Cons announced that he was leaving G.O.O.D. Music and had no hesitation airing out his issues with his former boss and collaborator in multiple interviews.(Photos: Christopher Polk/Getty Images For BET; Joe Corrigan/Getty Images for Universal Music)

Kanye West / Consequence - As one of the first signees to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music imprint, Cons has rapped over many a Yeezy beat through the years. But that didn't stop the Queens rapper from sending salty interviews, videos and diss tracks in Yeezy's direction in 2011, blaming him for his stalled sophomore album.(Photos: Christopher Polk/Getty Images For BET; Joe Corrigan/Getty Images for Universal Music)
