Here, My Dear: Hip Hop's Illest Breakups

The messiest, most dramatic rap-related splits.

Game and Tiffney Cambridge - Rounding out the game of "Case Of the Ex on Reality TV," we have Game and his on-again-off-again girlfriend/fiancée/mother of his children, Tiffney Cambridge. After a break up that included the drama of reported domestic abuse and Tiffney commenting on Game's foster daughter, it's needless to say that these California lovebirds may not find their way back to each other this time around. Here, My Dear: Hip-Hop's Illest Breakups - Hate it or love it, Game's well-publicized engagement to his long-time girlfriend, Tiffany Cambridge. The Compton firestarter proposed to Cambridge in front MTV's cameras last October. But it wasn't meant to be. "We regret to inform you that the wedding of Tiffney Cambridge & Jayceon Taylor has been cancelled," a statement on the couple's website said. Game confirmed the news in a series of tweets. "The rumors are TRUE. The wedding is OFF," he wrote. "It's not her fault, it's mine! She's a GREAT woman, I just wasn't man enough 2 see it through." We don't know what happened exactly, but let's hope it wasn't as bad as these other messy hip-hop-related splits.  (Photo: Valerie Macon/Getty Images)

Swizz Beatz & Mashonda - In 2008, producer/rapper Swizz Beatz and his wife Mashonda separated. The couple went through a well publicized divorce with Mashonda accusing Alicia Keys of stealing her husband.  Swizz is now married to Alicia with a son named Egypt.(Photo: Brad Barket/Getty Images)

Swizz Beatz & Mashonda - The divorce proceedings between Swizz Beatz and his first wife, singer Mashonda, spilled into headlines when she wrote a Twitter open letter to his now wife Alicia Keys. "If you are reading this Alicia, let me start by saying you know what you did," Mashonda wrote. "You know the role you played and you know how you contributed to the ending of my marriage. You know that I asked you to step back and let me handle my family issues. Issues that you helped to create... As a woman, I expected so much more from you." (Photo: Brad Barket/Getty Images)

Treach & Pepa - Pepa (of Salt N Pepa) released a book, Let’s talk About Pep, in 2008 that detailed a brutal beatdown she received at the hands of "Brad." Many believed the name was a pseudonym for her ex, Treach from Naughty by Nature. Treach later admitted that the relationship was abusive, but said it was from both sides. Kanye West and Alexis Phifer - Don't get us wrong, we love seeing Kanye with his self-proclaimed soul mate Kim Kardashian and their beautiful baby North, but sometimes we reminsce over the rapper's humbler days, when he was with former fiancée Alexis Phifer. There's no denying Yeezy was more grounded — though not nearly as entertaining — when he was with the fashion designer, who (as of now, at least), is the person who came closest to becoming Mrs. Yeezy. Kanye West & Alexis Phifer - Kanye used his split from Alexis Phifer, to whom he was engaged for 18 months, as fodder for his bitter fourth album, 808s & Heartbreak. "How could you be so Dr. Evil?/Bringing out a side of me I don't know," he sang on "Heartless," before repeatedly calling her a "spoiled little L.A. girl" on "Robocop."  (Photo:Thos Robinson/Getty Images for Island Def Jam Records )

Amber Rose and Kanye - Just when they were becoming rap royalty, Kanye and Amber Rose called it quits in '09. While we may have been sad for a bit, we soon got over it. 'Ye, however, needed some time to heal, which may be the reason why he gave Amber a not-so great shoutout on his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.(Photo: Larry Busacca/Getty Images)

Kanye West & Amber Rose - Yeezy did it again when him and Amber Rose broke up in 2010. Two years later, Rose accused him of talking greasy about her on his album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. "No one knows what I've been through and the things that I had to deal with when, you know, Kanye made his album, and he talked reckless about me on his album," she told Sway in an interview. In a previous interview, Amber accused Yeezy of cheating on her with Kim Kardashian.   (Photo: Larry Busacca/Getty Images)

Working Relationship: When Bandmates Date - We all know it's a bad idea to date co-workers, right? Well, all of us except musicians. Wyclef Jean's autobiography, Purpose, which dropped today, September 18, is making waves for his claim that the Fugees broke up because Lauryn Hill falsely told him that her first-born son, Zion, was his. But whatever the reason for the group's 1997 split, it was an expensive one: They never recorded a follow-up to their diamond-selling 1996 album The Score. But Wyclef and Lauryn aren't the first to mix love and music. Read on to check out other bandmates who dated, loved, married and more.   (Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images)

Lauryn Hill & Wyclef - The end of the on-the-low, reportedly tumultous relationship between Wyclef and Lauryn Hill also led to the breakup of their chart-topping group The Fugees, and fueled "Ex Factor" and other heart-rending songs on her solo blockbuster, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Last year, Clef apologized to Hill in an interview. "I don’t have no problem saying on national TV right now while everyone is watching that Lauryn, I apologize to you, you know for everything that I did to you which was wrong," he said.  (Photo: BET)

Nas & Kelis - Kelis filed for divorce from Nas when she was seven months pregnant in 2009. The court-ordered $40,000 monthly alimony and child support payments were eye-popping, and helped fuel much of the fire behind Nas' new album Life Is Good, most notably the self-explanatory "Bye Baby."Photo: Vince Bucci/Getty Images)

T-Boz & Mack 10 - T-Boz of TLC fame filed for divorce from West Coast rapper Mack 10 in 2004, claiming he abused her, cheated on her, and threatened to kill her. She also took out a restraining order that prevented Mack from coming within 100 yards of her. (Photo: from left Brad Barket/Getty Images, Bryan Bedder/Getty Images)

Eve & Stevie J - Though Eve and producer Stevie J never spoke about the reason for their breakup in the early 2000s, rumors at the time claim it was due to Stevie leaking their infamous sex tape. Then again, judging from his behavior on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, we wouldn't be surprised if his douchebagginess was also a major factor.(Photo: from left Photo by Andrew H. DMX & Tashera Simmons - DMX and his long-time wife Tashera Simmons detailed their roller-coaster relationship, including drug use, abuse, infidelity, and jail stints, on the VH1 reality show Couples Therapy earlier this year. Shortly afterwards, Tashera announced that they were getting a divorce. (Photo: Evan Agostini/Getty Images)

Diamond & Lil Scrappy - Lil Scrappy said he was heartbroken when his ex, rapper Diamond, started dating Soulja Boy. But as viewers of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta could probably guess, the true drama was provided by Scrappy's mother, Mama D, who went in on Diamond in a radio interview last year. "It's f'd up how she did it…low down dirty b--h," she said. "She's lucky I don't...pimp her ass. She gonna give it up like that, she might as well get some money for it."(Photo: from left Alberto E.
