Selena (1997) - Responsible for skyrocketing Jennifer Lopez's acting career to what it is today, Selena proved celebrity biopics can be commercially lucrative if correctly and carefully cast. No actress would have been more ideal for fulfilling the role of the Tejano music star, and critics seemed to agree; Lopez earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture.(Photo: Q Productions)

Hollywood Starlet - Lopez quit In Living Color to pursue acting in 1993 and began receiving low-profile supporting roles (Money Train, Blood and Wine, Jack). But her first big break in Hollywood came in 1996, when she played the title role in Selena, a biopic of the late Tejano pop singer, and knocked it out of the park. (Photo: Q Productions)

Out of Sight - After playing a leading role in U-Turn with Sean Penn and Billy Bob Thronton, Lopez landed her biggest, most acclaimed role yet, starring opposite George Clooney in 1998’s Out of Sight — and becoming the first Latina actress to earn over $1 million for a role along the way. Jennifer Lopez and Diddy - Their relationship fizzled out faster than the trucker hat trend, but Diddy and J.Lo were still together long enough to create a tabloid frenzy when they broke up amid rumors that Diddy was cheatin'. The rap mogul copped to his infidelities years later, admitting that he cheated on J.Lo with his baby mama, Kim Porter. He also hinted that Jenny may have gotten around the block herself, saying "Jennifer did her thing on some things, too."  (Photo: Dave Hogan/Getty Images)

Relationship With Diddy - J. Lo made headlines with her relationship with then-rising rapper-mogul Diddy. But they weren't all good: On December 27, 1999, the couple was at a Manhattan club when gunfire erupted between Combs' crew and another group. Lopez and Combs were detained by police when a gun was found in the front seat of their vehicle. Lopez wasn't charged, and Diddy narrowly avoided conviction and prison time in a high-profile trial. The pair split a year later. (Photo: Dave Hogan/Getty Images)

Ben Affleck + Jennifer Lopez = Bennifer - This was a pretty BENIficial relationship and it helped that they both were actors. We sort of miss them, but understand that they have had artistic differences.(Photo: Revolution Studios, City Lights Films, Casey Silver Productions)

Relationship With Ben Affleck - Lopez had another high-profile coupling in 2002 when she began dating Ben Affleck. The relationship left a big mark on her career. Lopez dedicated to him most of her third studio album, This Is Me...Then, and featured him in the voyeuristic lead video, "Jenny From the Block." The pair also starred together in the 2003 film Gigli — an epic commercial and critical flop. After numerous canceled weddings, the pair split in 2004. (Photo: Columbia Pictures)

Marriage and Music With Marc Anthony - A new phase in Lopez's personal life once again dovetailed with transitions in her career. Lopez married Latin music star Marc Anthony in 2004, this time shunning the intense spotlight that had helped bring her previous celebu-pairings to an end. She released another huge hit, "Get Right," the following year, and in 2007, worked with Anthony on her first Spanish-language album, Como Ama Una Mujer. In 2008, the couple had twins, and Lopez took a hiatus from her career to focus on them.   (Photo: Frederick M. Love? and American Idol - In 2010, Lopez started a new chapter, returning to the spotlight as a judge on the hit show American Idol.
