Music Couples That Lack Chemistry in the Studio

The place where romance and recording don't mix.

Music Couples That Lack Chemistry in the Studio - Ashford had Simpson. Tina had Ike. Peaches had Herb. Jay Z has Beyoncé. Prince had Apollonia. Vanity and…you know where we’re going with this. Some music couples just work well together whether in the bedroom or the booth. The same can’t be said for others. Love & Hip Hop Atlanta stars Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez have been releasing new material (“Mi Colta,” “Shotz”) in anticipation of her solo debut. We’ll pause here for your side-eye. Seriously though, these two tracks are proof that not all romantic relationships between artists can lead to chemistry in the studio. Steebie and Joseline are not alone, though. On and Off Again: When Celebrity Couples Reunite - With the town still buzzing from the taping of the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards, Keyshia Cole was spotted at Jeezy's birthday bash (Sept. 30), and it has stirred up all kinds of questions about whether or not the two will get back together. The "Enough of No Love" singer has reportedly been on the outs with her NBA baller husband, Daniel "Boobie" Gibson, but does that mean she'd go creepin'? Sometimes, when a heart doesn't break even, the only way to heal is with the person who took it apart. Check out these other former flames who reunited to rekindle the fire.(Photos from left: Bennett Raglin/Getty Images,John Ricard/BET)

Young Jeezy and Keyshia Cole - Young Jeezy and Keyshia Cole seemed like the perfect hip hop love couple when they dated in 2008, but their musical collaborations were rather imperfect. The stars struggled to make things work on Da Snowman's 2008 single "Dreamin'" where Cole sometimes gets lost in the background. Then Jeezy's gruff just didn't blend well with the fragile keys and emotive power of Cole's voice on her 2010 single "Never Again."(Photos from left: Bennett Raglin/Getty Images,John Ricard/BET)

Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri - MJ's little sister seemed like she might have finally found love with music mogul Jermaine Dupiri.  However, after a seven year relationship the couple, who were never married, split in November of 2009. (Photo: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for NAACP)

Jermaine Dupri and Janet Jackson - When Jermaine Dupri and Janet Jackson got together, we thought a whole lot of great music was sure to follow. Instead, we got her ninth studio album, 20 Y.O., which was certified platinum, but still was a lukewarm return to her roots of dance/R&B. (Photo: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for NAACP)

Dre and Christina Milian - Christina Milian hooked up with her then-boo Dre (one half of the hip hop production duo Cool & Dre) in an attempt to make her third studio album more R&B than pop. They delivered "Say I," which was infectious, but they also made filler-sounding tracks like "Gonna Tell Everybody." Dre even lent his vocals to "Hot Boy" and the title track "So Amazin'," but none really put Milian in her zone. (Photo: Michael Loccisano/Getty Images for Grey Goose)

The-Dream and Melissa Santiago - Call him crazy, but while married to the gorgeous Christina Milian (pictured with him), the super producer was busted by paparazzi in the Caribbean frolicking with his assistant, Melissa Santiago. To add insult to injury, the couple had recently welcomed their daughter, Violet, when The-Dream was caught creepin'.(Photo:Michael Loccisano/Getty Images for Grey Goose)

The-Dream and Christina Milian - Before their short-lived marriage The-Dream and Christina Milian worked together, hoping to finally find her voice for the mainstream. The result was the empty, airy, schizophrenic "Chameleon." Let's just say there were some irreconcilable differences for this duo musically. (Photo: Michael Loccisano/Getty Images for Grey Goose)

Soulja Boy and Diamond - This rap duo shocked many when they went public with their romance, but no one was too surprised by the music they put out together. Take the uninspiring "All Star," which finds Soulja Boy barely giving an effort (or maybe he was) and Diamond offering a verse stuck somewhere in the haze. No one can argue that Diamond was at her best when she was making crunk music with her ex-beau Lil Scrappy. Sorry Soulja.(Photo: Mark Davis/Getty Images For BET)

Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa - No one adores Wiz's and Amber's beautiful fairytale from the 'hood love story more than us, but we gotta be honest. After hearing Amber's singing debut, "Fame," in 2012, it's probably best that they leave the music making to Wiz and the tweeting and social networking to Amber.  (Photo: CPA, PacificCoastNews.com)

Tiny and T.I. - T.I. and Tiny have been labeled the "Hip Hop Huxtables" by the masses and for good reason. Now, in the second season of T.I. & Tiny:The Family Hustle, the world has officially fallen in love with the Harris family. Despite whatever preconceived notions folks have had about T.I., his love, dedication and support that he gives to his family make him quite possibly one of the most lovable fathers out there. Oh, and this couple is S-E-X-Y! (Photo: Rick Diamond/Getty Images)

Tiny and T.I. - As much as we love T.I. and Tiny on Family Hustle, when they got together for Tiny's 2007 single "Lately," it was a pretty uncomfortable moment. Not the kind of thing we want to ever experience again. (Photo: Rick Diamond/Getty Images)

Papoose on Remy Ma's delayed release: - “It was just a big confusion over there. You know, Remy’s a celebrity, and sometimes people get overwhelmed with who she is, or the following she has, so they kind of fumbled the ball on the first day.”(Photos from left: Ray Tamarra/Getty Images, Rob Loud/Getty Images for IMG)

Papoose and Remy Ma - There's nothing like a man who remains loyal while his girl is locked up, but we're thinking that the "just got home" chemistry might make a much better record than the royally boring "Name Callin'" duet. We'll give this duo a do-over when Remy gets home.(Photos from left: Ray Tamarra/Getty Images, Rob Loud/Getty Images)

Maino and Olivia - No matter how sweet it may have been to see those pics of Maino and Olivia making kissy faces, their song together, "So Into You," was much less convincing. The beat was a nice mellow groove, but Maino's flow dragged ("I'm so into you, something about you...") and Livi lacked passion ("I'm so into you, sugar..."). (Photo: Twitter via Olivia)
