Ice Cube's time with N.W.A. was short-lived but indelible. He wrote most of Eazy-E's and Dre's lyrics for the group's debut studio album, 1988's Straight Outta Compton, but by 1989, he was ready bounce because he felt that manager Jerry Heller's proposed contract didn't have enough points for him. After Cube left, the remaining members dissed him with 100 Miles and Runnin', but that didn't keep him quiet. Cube shut it all down with "No Vaseline" and an admirable career writing lyrics and movies.
