The Rundown: MMG, Self Made 3

A track-by-track review of the rap collective's new album.

Maybach Music Group, Self Made Vol. 3 - As they were continuing to establish themselves as a crew to be respected, Self Made Vol. 1 really set the tone for Maybach Music Group with songs like "I'ma Boss," "That Way" and "Tupac Back." They continued the trend on the next two installments, with Vol. 3 offering Meek Mill's smash "Levels" as well as posse cuts like "Black Grammys" and "Poor Decisions."(Photo: Courtesy of Maybach Music Group)

Self Made Vol. 3 - Maybach Music Group is back and bigger than ever. Rick Ross "The Bawse" brought back some familiar faces like Meek Mill, Gunplay, French Montana, Rockie Fresh and Wale and enlisted the help of industry juggernauts like Birdman, Fabolous, Lupe Fiasco and J. Cole to help give MMG it's most versatile album of the Self Made collection yet.(Photo: Courtesy Mayback Music Group)

"Lil Snupe Intro" - It's a sad, yet touching moment hearing the talented late rapper Lil Snupe, who starts things off with a haunting verse that tragically never came to life. "I'm just a n---a happy that I made it out/I pray to God every night I see the safer route." R.I.P. Lil Snupe! (Photo: Johnny Nunez/WireImage)

"Gallardo" Gunplay Feat. Trina, Rick Ross and Yo Gotti - Trina lets it be known from the opening line, "I only f wit n---as in them lambos," just before some of that classic Rick Ross brand name dropping. Just as the rapid-fire snare compliments the speaker rattling bass, Gunplay's maniacal verse balances out Rozay's laid back flow.(Photos from left:  Courtesy of Myspace/ Def Jam, John Ricard / BET, Kris Connor/ Getty Images)

"The Plug" Meek Mill Feat. Omelly - Meek Mill picks up the pace as he and Omelly go back and forth detailing a gangster tale, which picks up at the calm before the caper. This cinematic track plays out like a Donald Goines book. Omelly lets himself be known with a standout verse over this uptempo track.(Photos from left: John Ricard / BET, Omelly via Instagram, Young Breed via Instagram)

"The Great Americans" Rick Ross Feat. Gunplay, Rockie Fresh and Fabolous - One of Self Made Vol. 3's more mellow tracks, this one emphasizes these all-star rhymers respective tales of riches and challenges over the piano-laden track. The cognac and cigar smoke mood adds special effects to the tales of these "great Americans." Loso and Rick Ross "Bawse" it out, talking about the finer things, while Gunplay adds that raw street theme.(Photos from left: C.M. "Bout That Life" Meek Mill Feat. French Montana, K Kutta, Torch and Iceberg - Meek Mill tells it straight on this hood rich anthem. "I like fast broads, fast cars/my last car was like a Nascar," he raps over this classic bass heavy MMG track. French Montana once again came out to play, showing that he's got that friendly competitive edge that makes him step up when he's rhyming against someone worthy.(Photos from left: John Ricard/BET; Bennett Raglin/BET/Getty Images for BET; Phat Boy Beats; Maybach Music Group [2])

"God Is Great" Rockie Fresh - "I be that young n---a from Chicago/bout to heat the city up and make it feel like Cabo," announces MMG's Midwest representer Rockie Fresh. The basic beat with the moderate bass and looped soul sample is perfect for Fresh to show his lyrical prowess. It's not the strongest way to end (the Self Mades never really do end strong), but it's a sure nod from Rick Ross that his entire squad is equipped to go toe-to-toe with anyone in 2013 and beyond.(Photo: John Ricard / BET)
