Sugarhill Gang, "Rapper's Delight"

The Sugarhill Gang paved the way for hip hop going mainstream, and took Lois Lane from Superman in the process. "I said by the way baby what's your name/Said I go by the name of Lois Lane/And you could be my boyfriend, you surely can/Just let me quit my boyfriend called Superman," Big Hank spit. But Lois wasn't the only thing lifted in the song. "Rapper's Delight" is the first documented case of biting in hip hop, as Hank stole his classic verse verbatim from Grandmaster Caz of The Cold Crush Brothers.
