Suge Knight Gets Ice From Vanilla - Surprisingly Suge owes his path to riches in the music game to '90s rap superstar Vanilla Ice. As owner of a music publishing company, Knight's first gig was, once again, negotiating... this time for Mario Johnson, who wrote Ice's 1990 mega-hit record "Ice Ice Baby." When the white rapper refused to sign over royalties to Johnson, Suge paid him a visit. After members of Suge's crew reportedly dangled Mr. Ice over a hotel balcony, the rapper agreed to the deal and Suge's cut, according to Ice, was used to fund Death Row.
