Rappers Told the Truth, and Other Music News This Week

Plus, Kim K became an unspoken hero.

A Week of Feelings  - Thanks to Frank Ocean’s release, not only were we left in our feelings, we were also left to read a lot of news revolving around Frank's project. There was a magazine, poems in the magazine, a feature in the project that had people claiming shots were fired. Really, there was only one piece of news that rose above all of that. In the land of beefs, Hot 97 and Drake are still running hot. Others are seemingly waving the white flag, but you never know with rappers. Oh, and word to the wise: we have an etiquette tip for fans who love taking selfies with celebrities. Let’s take a look at that and more this week. – Jon Reyes

I’mma Let You Finish... - All in all, the week really started when Kim Kardashian released the video footage of Taylor Swift giving Kanye West the thumbs about being mentioned in his “Famous” track. Don’t worry, that wasn’t the only music news of the week. Some artists are still out there doing some good in light of all the tragic current events in the U.S. — others are opening up during interviews, while some made some changes to their craft. Let’s go. – Jon Reyes (BET)

The Game of Doing Good - The Game and Snoop Dogg put together a summit between the Bloods and the Crips in an effort to curb street violence. That’s some “from the ground up” movement we can get behind. Oh, and in case that wasn’t enough, Game launched a new philanthropic endeavor that helps some moms buy groceries. He has a history of doing good. Check it out here.(Photo: Jen Lowery/Splash News)

The Waka Hater Memo - So, Waka Flocka Flame is a bit bewildered. Apparently he’s under the impression that “rap n****s” that take selfies of themselves and “d**k prints” aren’t allowed to help the movement, because they are “confused.” Okayyyy.(Photo: D Dipasupil/Getty Images)

Legendary Shade - After Mrs. Trump jacked paragraphs from a famous speech by our first lady Michelle Obama, an official Republican National Convention rep made his press rounds claiming Melania used phrases used by John Legend and other artists. John’s response? A direct quote from Taylor Swift’s well-crafted response to the Kim K videos being released. Don’t mess with Mr. Legend.(Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images)

Nineteen Eighty Lie - Oh, yeah, and that whole Taylor Swift attempt to clap back at Kim and Kanye with legal action? It’s still a thing and reportedly she’s trying really, really, really hard to come at the Wests with some kind of retaliation even though some reports are claiming she has no legal ground.(Photos from left: Frederick M.
