SHORT CUTS: Tucker to Play Valet

Posted Sept. 21, 2007 -- Chris Tucker is in talks to star as Frank Sinatra's valet in a New Line film based on the book, “Mr. S: My Life With Frank Sinatra,” a Harper Collins tell-all book penned by Jacobs and William Stadiem in 2003. The project re-teams Tucker with Brett Ratner, who directed "Rush Hour."

It's like a love story between two very unlikely people," Stadiem said. "Brett is a Rat Pack obsessive, and so it's fun to work with someone so passionate about the period.

This summer, Tucker met with Jacobs, who worked for Sinatra from 1953-68. Stadiem, a longtime chronicler of old Hollywood, has been tapped to write the screenplay, which weaves in celebrity anecdotes involving Marilyn Monroe, Peter Lawford, the Kennedys, Ava Gardner, Humphrey Bogart, Mia Farrow, Elvis Presley, Swifty Lazar and Marlene Dietrich, among others.

Tracey and Eddie: Making Wedding AND Work Plans

Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds have decided a big wedding is not for them.

We want to make it fun and casual – small," Edmonds recently told reporters. No wedding date has been set, but Edmonds, 40, says the two are getting closer and closer to one. "We've got a lot of work to do yet.

That apparently includes working on projects that don't include flowers and wedding cake. Edmonds also plans to collaborate with her 46-year-old fiance on a film that she will produce.

We've got a couple different things with each other we're working on," Murphy revealed, while the two attended the premiere of "Good Luck Chuck." One tentative project includes a comedy co-starring Chris Tucker. "I have two comedies," Edmonds explained, adding, "We are actually doing a lot of things.

Whitfield Joins "Women"

Lynn Whitfield has been added to the cast of a film remake of “The Women,” which already features Jada Pinket-Smith and Eva Mendes in the cast.

“The catalyst of the story is still one of the women discovering her husband is having an affair, and the reaction of her friends,” writer-director Diane English tells Variety. “Unless I screw it up, there's a built-in audience for this movie.

Other women in the film include Bette Midler, Cloris Leachman, Carrie Fisher, Joanna Gleason, Ana Gasteyer, Debi Mazar, Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Debra Messing, and Candice Bergen.
