50 Cent and Robert De Niro are teaming up once again for a new film, Freelancers. The plot centers on 50’s character, who joins the police force after his father is murdered in the line of duty.

De Niro will portray “Captain Vic Scarcone,” a rogue cop that 50’s character eventually joins.

The two previously worked on the 2008 film, Righteous Kill. In that movie, also a crime thriller, 50 played the role of drug dealer Marcus "Spider" Jackson. Righteous Kill grossed $40 million in the U.S. and Canada.

50 has previously noted that he wanted to expand his empire through film. Last October, he announced that he had secured $200 million in funding for ten films via a deal with Cheetah Vision Films and Hedge Fund Film Partners.

The first of those films, Set Up, will pit 50 alongside Takers star Paul Walker.

Meanwhile, 50 and De Niro begin shooting Freelancers on April 18 in New Orleans.
