An interview ran yesterday on PopEater donning the headline, “How Kimora Lee Lost 25 Pounds: ‘By Not Eating.’” The article goes on to talk about some other ways Kimora shed her last 25 pounds including eating more vegetables and leaner proteins but also quotes her as saying, “The reason I had such a big breakfast is because I hadn't eaten in two days.”
Kimora took to her blog the same day to set the record straight.
“This story led people to believe that I shed 25 lbs by not eating, which is completely ridiculous…It’s taken me almost a year to lose close to 25 lbs and I did it through healthy diet and exercise.”
She also brings to bear the larger issue of having a healthy body image as a female and the devastating effects stories like this can have on young girls.
“There must be more accountability in reporting, especially considering the far reaching impact on girls and young women who are exposed to this kind of misleading information on a daily basis. What kind of example is that setting for them?”
Regardless of the truth in PopEater’s allegations, Kimora should be commended for reminding the public of the larger and more important issues at hand—making sure young girls are not being encouraged to use unhealthy and dangerous practices when it comes to their bodies.
