Common to Produce and Star in Indie Film "L.U.V."

The film marks the rapper/actor's first foray into producing.

Common is set to test his skills as a movie producer with the indie film "L.U.V.," a story about the unlikely bond that forms between ex-convict Vincent (played by Common) and his introverted 13-year-old nephew. The rapper has already appeared in a number of films like "American Gangster," "Terminator Salvation" and "Street Kings," but this would be his first foray into an executive position.

"Vincent is a uniquely conflicted character," Common says of the role. "I found an appeal in his desire to move past his failures and onto the right track, and the challenges that presents."

"L.U.V." begins production next week and not a moment too soon as the busy actor just finished filming on New Line's "New Year's Eve," Disney's "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" and is set to star in AMC's new series "Hell on Wheels."
