While promoting his new film, the wedding-themed romantic comedy Jumping The Broom, actor Laz Alonso discussed his own issues with finding love.

In a video interview with Madame Noire, the Avatar star discussed how the entertainment industry places a burden on the relationships he and other actors try to forge. After making it clear that he was single, Laz said, “This business is very, very, very hard. People see the glamorous side of it, but they don’t see the homes that are sometimes wrecked unless you bring your significant other with you, which a lot of our castmates do a lot of times.”

Laz noted that he’s “learned a lot” and admitted, “I can’t say that I’ve always known exactly how to manage a relationship with this job, but I think I’m figuring it out now.”

What has he learned? On keeping a relationship strong while working, Laz said, “It just means to bring that person with you, if they can afford to go.”

Laz’s film, Jumping The Broom, opens on May 6.
