Rapper turned mayor candidate first falls short of his goal.
Uncle Luke’s mayoral bid is off to a rocky start.
Luther Campbell recently announced his intentions to run for Mayor of Miami. Unfortunately, he has already come up short at his first campaign fund-raiser. According to WPLG News 10 in Miami, Campbell raised a paltry $250 at an event in North Bay Village, Florida (the former 2 Live Crew member had hoped the event would bring in $5,000 to $10,000).
As a result, Campbell falls far behind the other mayoral candidates in terms of fund-raising. Speaking with WPLG, he says that in the end his campaign isn’t about his failed fund-raising goals. “It’s about jobs and getting new money into Miami.”
The Miami mayoral election takes place on May 4.
