Toni Braxton Quits Mother's Day Show After Death Threats

The singer bails on concert in Trinidad after netting death threats.

Toni Braxton has had a tumultuous couple of years, full of financial woes and ailing health. Now, the multiplatinum, multiple Grammy award–winning artist is dealing with threats on her life.

According to blogger Freddy O, Toni had to cancel an upcoming performance in Trinidad after receiving death threats.

Freddy O spoke to Toni Braxton’s sister and reality star co-star, singer Tamar Braxton. According to Tamar, Toni had to bail on a Mother’s Day show in fear of her life. It appears the beef is directed more at the promoter of the event than Toni. Still, Toni’s fears prompted her to drop the show. Freddy O writes, “While talking to Tamar I could hear Toni saying, “I have kids, I don’t play that.”

As a result of her cancellation, Toni is forfeiting her check. The singer recently mentioned that the money she earns from her reality show, Braxton Family Values, wasn’t enough—leaving her to turn to international concert dates to sustain her lifestyle.
