Mark your calendars for more of the legendary series.
Remember The Bionic Woman television series that came out in 2007, which starred Isaiah Washington and was allegedly supposed to star Garbielle Union in a role that ended up going to Michelle Ryan? Probably not because the show was a disaster and canceled after only eight episodes.
In case you are too young to remember, reincarnations of The Bionic Woman have been going on for decades on television. After years of legal battles, this latest remake of Bionic Woman finally made it to DVD and season two is in stores Tuesday, May 17th. Male or female, Black or white — the Emmy-winning Bionic Woman is a must-have for any science fiction fan.
The Bionic Woman is a spin-off from The Six Million Dollar Man. After a tragic skydiving accident Jaime Sommers, played by Lindsay Wagner, is made bionic by the government. In debt to the government, Sommers becomes a part-time top secret agent. She jumps, kicks, runs and crushes everything in her path. She is not only a bionic woman — she is a bionic diva!
The series ran for three seasons from 1976 to 1978 and, surprisingly, the storyline still works. These were the days when there weren’t 300 channels so there was a particular attention to detail mixed with the feminist movement of the time.
Considering the timelessness of the story, another version of the The Bionic Woman is bound to pop up on your television — hopefully this time a sista’ will get a chance!
