NBC has canceled its sci-fi action drama The Event, starring Blair Underwood.
Though the series about aliens covertly living among us started strongly for the network, ratings gradually dropped. After its winter hiatus, the show fell below the line, according to EW.
The Event averaged 7.4 million viewers and a 2.5 rating in the coveted 18-49 age demographic. Once you add in DVR use, that just wasn’t enough to justify a costly, serialized show.

Meanwhile, Law & Order: Los Angeles , which included Terrence Howard, and Outsourced were also dropped. Several other shows, including Grimm and The Playboy Club, have been picked up for the fall.
