Rosie Perez, Lance Reddick Join "Still I Rise"

Rosie Perez and Lance Reddick (star of Fringe and The Wire) have both joined the cast of Still I Rise, according to Indie Wire. Still I Rise, which isn’t related to the Maya Angelou poem, also stars Viola Davis and Maggie Gyllenhaal as two frustrated mothers who team up to transform an inner-city public school in Pittsburgh, PA.

Oscar nominee Perez will play the tough head of the school board, while Reddick will play Viola Davis’ husband, who also happens to be a teacher.

The movie, which is helmed by Walden Media/20th Century Fox, was initially announced about three weeks ago. Daniel Barnz (Beastly) is set to direct.
