Roger Bobb Leaves Tyler Perry Studios

The movie mogul’s right-hand man bails to start his own company.

Roger M. Bobb, executive vice president of Tyler Perry Studios, has resigned from his position.  “Today will be my last day at Tyler Perry Studios,” said Bobb in a letter sent to colleagues. “It has been an incredible seven years and I would like to thank Tyler Perry, The Tyler Perry Studios staff, Lionsgate, TBS, Debmar/Mercury and especially the hundreds of cast and crew members that I have had the honor and privilege of working with during my amazing time here.”

In the same letter, the London-born, Brooklyn-raised executive announced that he would now be president of Bobbcat Films, his new film and television production company.

While at Tyler Perry Studios, Bobb produced all of Perry’s film and TV projects, including Meet the Browns and House of Payne.

He most recently served as producer of Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family, which has grossed over $45 million at the box office.

No word yet on any projects Bobb will develop through his new company.
