BET.com Talks With Niecy Nash, Kyle Massey and Edi Gathegi

New interviews from MTV's gift lounge

Showing off her handsome new husband, Jay Tucker, while checking out Hard Candy Cosmetics, Pinup Girl clothing and other items at the GBK’s gift lounge for the MTV Movie Awards, Niecy Nash declared that her May 28 wedding “was everything I dreamed of and more. Brandy sang ‘At Last’ while we danced on the dock. It was magical.’ The next day, Nash and her electrical engineer husband were flying to Anguilla for a honeymoon delayed by her press tour for her TLC special Niecy Nash’s Wedding Bash, but now she’s going to concentrate on being Mrs. Tucker. Otherwise, “I got a couple things that I’m working on,” she said. “It’s a little top secret.”

“We got a Black president and now a Black Angel. It feels really good. I’m kind of like Obama!” laughed Annie Ilonzeh, understandably thrilled to be the first African-American Charlie’s Angel, starring in ABC’s reboot of the ‘70s TV series and movie franchise about a trio of undercover detectives working for an unseen boss (Robert Wagner). “It’s still three girls kicking butt, with bullets and bad guys and martial arts but it’s edgier and modern,” compared Ilonzeh, whose character is “strong, logical, kind of the mother hen.” She starts shooting in Miami in July. Ilonzeh (the name’s Nigerian, her father’s heritage), a dog owner, was especially thrilled to get free dog care services from Bark After Dark at the GBK suite. She’s presenting at the Spike Guy’s Choice Awards on June 10.

Kyle Massey doesn’t dance anymore, but he did cheer on Chelsea Kane this season on Dancing With the Stars and is teaming up with the contestant eliminated before him last season for a new reality series. Bristol Palin, the polarizing daughter of Alaska’s ex-governor, will move to L.A. to live with Massey and his brother Chris. “It’s about the three of us being seen in a different light. There’s a lot of misconception in the media about us. It’s about us showing the charity side, lending a helping hand. We want to show us as we really are,” explained Massey, who “saw a side of Bristol that no one really gets to see, that’s laid back and chillin’” when they became friends on Dancing. He’s currently recording the voice of Milo for the animated Disney Channel show Fish Hooks, also starring Kane.

“It was a childhood dream of mine to be a superhero,” said Edi Gathegi, who can check that off his list with his role as the constantly evolving Darwin in X-Men: First Class. The actor previously best known for Twilight and House opens June 8 in Superior Donuts at L.A.’s Geffen Playhouse, playing a job seeker who forms a friendship with the despondent donut shop owner (Gary Cole). In real life, he prefers another sort of baked goods. At the Prepare L.A. Red Cross Trend Lounge he was most excited about the free red velvet cupcakes from Sugar Babies. “Hopefully they’ll live up to Cake Man Raven’s in Brooklyn,” he said.

The MTV Movie Awards were held last night with Twilight grabbing the most awards. Justin Beiber's Never Say Never won "best dropping jaw moment."
