Big Poppas, Jamie Foxx and Usher, Reflect on Fatherhood

Their Children Make Everyday Special

As fathers everywhere prepare to be honored with ties, tools and treats, superstars Jamie Foxx and Usher share their feelings about special times with their children. Hectic schedules, or award shows, it doesn’t matter. Being a parent is imperative.
Usher particularly understands the role of a father having grown up without one. He tells The Insider, “Given the fact that I didn’t have a father, my father wasn’t there, it makes it even more of a pleasure for me to be there with my kids,” he says about his sons, three-year-old Usher V, and two-year-old Naviyd. They go on the road with their superstar dad who makes their lives normal as possible while he is working. “They have their own kids’ room where they have toys and graham crackers,”says the single dad smiling hear to ear. “I work hard to accommodate them.”
Foxx remembers one of the most exciting nights of his career. His daughter was right by his side. “I was nervous and then she relieved my tension,” he said about Corrine on the night that he won an Oscar for “Ray.” She told him, “If you don’t win, you don’t need a statue to tell you that you’re good actor.” An emotional and proud Foxx said, “Hopefully in 20 or 30 years, when she’s talking with her friends, she’ll say, ‘one day me and my dad did something real special.’”
