The singer turns into an action star in this board game-based movie.
Though she’s barely in the trailer, Battleship is Rihanna’s first big movie role. In the Peter Berg-directed action film, the "Man Down" singer will play an “FBI espionage agent who goes along with the navy to defeat the origins (aka the alien race attacking Earth).” Rihanna spent three months filming the movie in Baton Rouge and parts of Hawaii.
"She’s really tough," Rihanna said about her character. "She doesn’t stand for anything. I just know my weapons really, really well. She’s really intelligent, but really bad ass.” The film is based on the classic board game, and co-stars Liam Neeson and Taylor Kitsch.
The movie will open in theaters on May 18, 2012.
