It's official: after months of speculation, Mariah Carey has finally confirmed that she will appear on highly anticipated show The X Factor. "Mariah is definitely confirmed to be a part of X Factor," a source close to the show tells People. "She is confirmed to tape something with Simon Cowell at the judge’s homes."

But show creator Cowell knows better than to let Mimi take a seat at the judging table and steal his thunder (he undoubtedly learned his lesson with Paula Abdul), so instead, the pop diva will appear as his "celebrity guest."

Sidekick, guest star, special appearance…whatever her role and no matter how short her screen time, Mimi will definitely steal the show.
